About 300,000 live in Denpasar, the capital. The majority of the population lives in small villages scattered all over the island along the paddy fields. From east to west a volcanic mountain range extends itself over the whole island with its highest mountain, the Gunung Agung (3,142 m).

Bali, although only two kilometres away from Java, is mainly influenced by the Hindu culture, while the Moslem culture predominates Java. Almost nowhere in the world one can find such a fascinating blend of culture, religion, art and agriculture reflected in every day life.

The MATAHARI BEACH RESORT & SPA was built in traditional Balinese style. For the Construction of the resort, which harmoniusly integrated into the beautiful Countryside, only local materials such a sandstone, marble, palemanan, wood and bamboo were used.

Local carftsmen and artist have creted a unique resort from yhis special combination of materials details in the stone-carvings are waiting to be discovered.

Our guests have the choice between our Garden View, Panorama View, Deluxe and Super Deluxe Bungalows Consist of two units and have beautiful marble terraces. They differ in location, size and equip-ment. They all have a two-winged handcraved Balinese door throught which you enter the bed-living-room. This room is decorated in warm colours with elegant and richly ornamented wooden furniture, a king-size Balinese bed or two separate beds, and a parquet floor.

An individually adjustable remote controlled air-conditioning. an IDD telephone, a minibar and a safe are discreetly integrated. A unique lightening concept softly underlines the warm colours of the interior.

Each unit is equipped with a marble bathroom with king-size bath tubs and a small tropical back garden with a shower shaped like a water spounting Balinese dragon. Here our guests can take a shower under the open sky - an unforgattable experience!

The Deluxe and Super Seluxe Bungalows are additionally equipped with double wash-basins and bidets. The Super Deluxe Bungalows offers another extra: aprivate pavilion in the middle of a lotus pond. The ground plans on the right give you a small impression of the division of our bungalows.

LOBBY
The lobby, located in the main building, is the communication center of our resort. Here we are at your disposal at all times and organize your activities.

DEWI RAMONA RESTAURANT
In our restaurant we will serve you only the most delicious food. Our chef de cuisine and his native team will see to it that you will enjoy bath European and Indonesian specialties. The careful selection of fresh ingredients and the expert preparation of all dishes are your guarantee for extraordinary, lunches and exquisite, dinners. Our range of international high-quality wines complete a palatable menu.

And on our open-air stage in front of the restaurant you will enjoy Balinese dance performances accompanied by exotic Gamelan music.

WAYANG COCKTAIL BAR
Here we are offering many classical drinks as well as refreshing fruit cocktails. The interior of the bar is decorated with antique leather puppets used in the traditional Balinese Wayang Kulit shadow play.

CONFERENCE FACILITIES
The beautiful and bright conference room is designed for meetings, conferences, banquets etc. for up to 80 persons. If you wish we would be happy to work out incentive programmes according to your demands.

SWIMMING POOL
Our large fresh-water pool (23 m x 11 m) has a depth of l to 3 m. For our small guests we have a shallow paddling pool.

After each show you will have the unique opportunity to learn these dances. Apart from this we also organize individual sightseeing trips. You con visit all the places of Bali's cultural heritage or simply go to the next village for shopping. Further on you can learn traditional craftsmanship such as woodcarving, sculpture and painting in small shady pavilions directly on our premises. On request our chef de cuisine will teach you how to prepare, local specialties.
